Area 51 IPTV closed in late June 2020. Subscribers received an email saying the operators had been forced to make a very difficult decision and close Area 51; it later emerged the shutdown was a settlement with the MPA and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment. It is not still working, and the APKs offered under its name today connect to nothing. Former Area 51 users mostly moved to direct services like Strong8K IPTV.
What happened to Area 51 IPTV
Area 51 was, by traffic, the largest stand-alone IPTV service in the United States in 2019 and 2020, with around three million site visits in its last year. The June 2020 closure came with a settlement that barred its operator from launching new infringing services. He did anyway, under other names, and in 2021 the major studios sued him in a case that named Area 51 and three successor services. None of them is a place to renew an Area 51 line.
