MAG set-top boxes from Infomir remain the workhorse of IPTV: they boot straight into your channel list, the remote works like classic television, and there is no app store to fight with. The trade-off is that setup happens through a portal URL instead of a username field, which confuses first-time users. This guide covers the whole process, plus the errors you are most likely to meet.
How a MAG box authenticates
Unlike app-based players that log in with a username and password, a MAG box identifies itself with its MAC address — the hardware ID printed on the sticker underneath the box, starting with 00:1A:79. Your provider links a subscription to that MAC on their side, and the box fetches everything from a portal URL you enter once. Two consequences worth knowing: you must send your MAC address to the provider when ordering, and moving the subscription to a new box means asking them to re-link it.
Before you start
- The portal URL from your activation email — it usually looks like
http://server:port/c/. - Your box’s MAC address already registered with the service (this happens at checkout — see the plans page).
- The box wired to the router with Ethernet if at all possible; MAG Wi-Fi adapters are the number-one source of stuttering.
Entering the portal URL
- Power the box and let it reach the inner portal or the error screen — both are fine.
- Open Settings → System settings → Servers → Portals.
- Set Portal 1 name to anything you like and Portal 1 URL to the exact address from your email. Type it character by character — the box has no clipboard, and a missing
/c/at the end is the most common mistake. - Leave Portal 2 empty unless your provider gave you a backup address.
- Press OK, go back, and choose Restart portal (or reboot the box).

The three errors everyone hits
“Page loading error”: the URL is mistyped, or the box’s MAC is not registered yet. Re-read the address on screen against your email, then confirm with support that your MAC is active.
Endless “Loading portal…”: usually DNS or network. Switch the box from Wi-Fi to cable, or set DNS manually to 1.1.1.1 under network settings, and reboot.
Channels load but freeze: that is bandwidth, not the portal. Wire the connection, and if your line is modest, prefer the FHD channel versions over 4K.
Old box, new firmware
MAG 250/254 units from years back still work, but their hardware struggles with modern high-bitrate 4K streams.
